Head, Heart and Hands: A Reproducible Vision for Discipleship

Cris Rogers, Rector of All Hallows Bow and the Stepney Estates Advocate, recently spoke to Giles Fouhy at the Diocese of London about the shape of discipleship today. Click here to read the full article.

Drawing on years of experience in youth and parish ministry, Cris has developed a simple but powerful definition of discipleship: loving and obeying God with your head, your heart, and your hands. For him, discipleship should always be relational, intentional, and reproducible.

To support this, Cris and his team created an online tool designed to help individuals, congregations, and small groups measure their growth in discipleship. You can access the tool here. More than 35,000 Christians across the UK have used it, producing some fascinating insights. While there's clear room for growth in both personal and group discipleship, the encouraging trend is that churches are placing greater emphasis on forming disciples — and moving beyond initial courses like Alpha into deeper rhythms of Christian life.

Alongside this, Cris and his team have also developed a simple daily prayer rhythm called 3, 2, 1 — designed to be easy to use and sustainable over time. The 321 resource is available here.
