Life events

The church can play a part in some of the most significant moments in our lives.

We are here to support you in major events in life such as weddings, funerals, infant and adult baptism and confirmation.

Baptism & Confirmations

At the baptism of a child, the parents thank God for His gift of life and decide to start the child on the journey of faith and ask for the Church's support.

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey when you affirm the faith into which you were baptised as a child.

It is never too late to be baptised – many people are baptised in their teens or as adults and find it a wonderful experience. Jesus himself was baptised in the River Jordan as an adult at the beginning of his public ministry.

Weddings

A church is so much more than simply a venue for your wedding. Marrying in church is personal, meaningful and spiritual just as you want it to be. Churches are special and unique places to get married in - the prayers, promises and the whole service.

Funerals

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. This can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.

The message at all Church of England funerals, wherever they happen, is one of hope. Although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, in every funeral there will also be a message of hope in life after death.
